The Second San Pablo Comics Festival is a celebration of Philippine comics where one can buy independently produced Filipino comic books (as well as imported ones) and meet the people who create them!

There will be a comics art exhibit, art contest, writer and artist signings, comic book sales, mini- tutorials, mini seminars, panel discussions and many more!

San Pablo too far away? Think of it as a vacation! Think of it as getting away from it all! Think of it as decentralizing Manila and spreading the comics love to the provinces! Plus, you'll get an AWESOME view!

On the Spot Contest Guidelines

There will be an on the spot art contest as part of the activities of the festival!

Who Can Join?

The contest is open to amateur artists only (people who are not professionally employed as an artist and/or have never been published) as well as students and out of school youth.

There will be two categories:

Children’s Category 12-16 years old
Young Adults 17-25 years old

Proof of age is required: Bring ID's or a birth certificate that verifies your age.

Criteria

Composition 30%
Technique 30%
Visual Interpretation 30%
Overall Impact 10%

The theme will be announced at 10:00 AM on the day of the event.

Prizes

There will be only one winner for each category. Winners will receive cash, valuable items, and a certificate signed by the organizers. The winning pieces will be featured on the event blog and website. Judges decision are final.

*Artworks remain the property of their respective creators but by joining the contest however they allow their works to be displayed publicly during the event and on the event website, blogs, and other online assets.

Honestly sometimes these aren't as funny as my regular strips since Hasbro is restrictive about what I can make fun of (don't make fun of anythign in the movie sucking, no crossing over with other properties, nothing especially lude or violent etc....) Review: Transformers Beast Wars: The Ascending #1

TransFormers is rich with mythology and science fiction, due to the wide success of the 2007 live action movie. But do you know where the technology com from? Or just take it as you just move along? For those who would be inlcied to be surprise the mythology was not define until Beast Wars was shown in 1996. The series is indeed had dark comedy, action, and mystery connecting them to Generation One.

Some won't understand why Transformers like Beast Wars would change on to animals rather than vehicle forms. To give you a bit of that explanation is that Beast Wars was set four hundred years in the future of Generation One. Technology on Planet Cybertron is so advance, that they can take the form of organic lifeforms. If you haven't seen the 1996 TV series I suggest you do watch the show. It might open your eyes why they crashed on a planet, which they're not aware of is actually rimitive Earth. Its where The Ark crashed and lay dormant.-- Oops I'm already giving you something you should watch.

For those who want a piece of Beast Wars in comics form we take you to The Ascending the second mini-series after IDW Publishing came out with the blockbuster in The Gathering last year. This is the first of four issues that will be released in a few months. Let's break down the first issue written by TransFomers extraordinaire Simon Furman and Filipino artist Don Figueroa!

Synopsis:

Spiraling out of the events in Beast Wars: The Gathering... MAGMATRON—now a disembodied entity, existing out of time and space—is witness to CYBERTRON's unchecked descent into chaos and madness, all of which is a prelude to its complete and utter destruction! TransFormers Spolight: Optimus Prime is a one-shot featuring the face of The Transformers. The Autobot Commander himself Optimus Prime. After the Escalation series Optimus Prime ponders about his future and he took Ark 32 to find someone who could listen to --Omega Supreme!

Filipino US based Don Figueroa does is again providing the art & cover. He has been sort of partly designed most of the characters that came out as a toy... TF Classics Jetfire, <="" /b="">, and TF War Within Megatron to name a few.

The story is action packed with Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme in action against the gestalt pretenders Monstructor.

Teletran Reports...

1.) Monstructor is a G1 combiner composed of five monster pretenders.

2.) Omega Supreme is huge so is Monstructor but in toy form the monster is as big as any Deluxe size figure.

3.) Features the six pages preview of Devastation after Escalation.

If your a big fan of Optimus Prime this ones for you, but the action is a bit short. It could have been a two-part mini series.
